Creep and Creep Recovery for Plain Concrete

The report discusses a laboratory study and the analysis of the creep and creep recovery characteristics for plain concrete. The study was undertaken to determine the effect of (a) the age of the concrete at the time of initial load application and the length of the loading cycle, and (b) the change in behavior when specimens are subjected to repeated loads, on the time-dependent strain behavior of plain concrete specimens subjected to uniaxial load. Data was collected, both for creep behavior during loading cycles and creep recovery during unloading cycles, with the age of the concrete and the duration of the loading and unloading cycle as the principal variable parameters. Both normal-weight and lightweight aggregate concretes were tested. (BPR abstract)
