Historic Structure Report - Kitchen, Grand Portage National Monument, Minnesota
The study concerns the kitchen that served the Grand Portage Great Hall complex. The author finds that the reconstruction of this structure and its furnishing would greatly complement the interpretation of the Great Hall. In making his recommendations, he has relied heavily on the findings of the archeologist of the Minnesota Historical Society, St. Paul who excavated the kitchen site. He also had the assistance of historians and architects with the National Historic Sites Service, Ottawa, Canada and various post journals of the Hudson's Bay Company. The report is well documented, includes a bibliography, and a series of useful illustrations.
