US-283 in Graham County, Kansas
The project, about 0.8 mile in length, follows the present alignment of Highway US-283 from a point south of the city limits of Hill City, northward to its intersection with the east and west Highway US-24 in Hill City. The purpose of the project is to upgrade this segment of US-283 to modern urban standards. The project is comprised of the grading and bituminous surfacing of a four-lane highway. Planned construction complements the use of other facilities, noted above. Since this project follows an existing city street and the present highway location, it is primarily concerned with widening and improving the facility within the present right of way. Thus there will be no long term adverse impact on the environment. There will be no displacement of homes.
