The Duck Creek Channel project lies wholly within the city limits of Garland, Texas. About 70 percent of the project area is highly urbanized and the remaining 30 percent is dominated by the city's growth pattern. Four municipal parks are located within the project area. Three are developed and one proposed for development. Within the project area a few large shade trees will be removed and several small areas of natural rock out-cropping will be reshaped by channel construction. In one municipal park area, two tennis courts will be relocated and minor changes in a swimming pool deck will be required. The swimming pool will not be affected. The channel improvement ends at the northeast corner of a small partially developed municipal park that is not in the project area. Flood debris deposited during periods of flood flow will temporarily degrade the aesthetic appearance of the park.
