Bestaemning av Belastade Traevaeggars Brandmotstand Genom Foersoek i Reducerad Skala - en Foerstudie (Determination of Fire Resistance of Wood Stud Walls by Reduced Scale Testing)
The report describes a procedure using results from reduced scale fire tests for estimating the fire resistance of wood stud walls. The test specimens were tested according to the standard fire curve (ISO 834) and consisted of wood studs and gypsum boards. At the fire tests in the model furnace the wall constructions were loaded with two vertical loads. The deflection of the specimens measured during the fire tests were used for estimating the flexural stiffness of the test specimen. With the flexural stiffness known the deflection of the wall during a full scale fire test was calculated by applying the second order theory of elasticity for a structural member loaded by compression. The deflection is calculated as a function of time. The compressive stress and the bending stress in the wood studs are calculated and when the ultimate strength of the wood studs is exceeded, the wall is predicted to fail.
