The report provides an 'annotated bibliography' of sected past fires that were considered for study by the staff ofp;p,;xcect9kt and includes a brief summary and description of; (1) strictly urban fires and (2) fires in mixed urban-rural areas. Study fires were chosed from this prepared list. Eighty major fires occurring since 1940 are described. Of these 80 fires, 47 are urban fires and 33 are mixed urban-rural fires. The listing of fires in this manner provides a base from which to choose additional fires for possible study, and makes available the results of our search of past fires for people who in the future might review or study large fires.
