The Evaluation of Foamed Concrete Explosion-Proof Bulkheads
Cast-in-place foamed concrete was investigated as a suitable bulkhead material for the construction of explosion-proof bulkheads in coal mines. Foamed concrete of density about 50 pcf meets the strength and permeability criteria and can be conveniently prepared and placed with available mine-approved equipment. Foamed concrete bulkheads should prove to be economical in situations where large numbers are to be installed, with savings over conventional techniques occurring in labor for the transport of supplies and the placement of bulkhead material.
