Industrial Park, Railroad Relocation, and Street Improvement: Bedford, Indiana
The study recommends relocation of a rail line and creation of a fast east-west arterial roadway in the city of Bedford, but rejects a proposal to establish an industrial park to help foster industry. Data is presented to show how the first two proposals would help develop industry and new jobs in the area. The proposed industrial park of 245.5 acres is discussed as too costly, pricing sale or rental of its developed property being out of competition with comparable sites elsewhere, according to the report. The report suggests the proposed industrial park site be developed as a residential part of Bedford and that unoccupied city sites already zoned for light industry be developed to attract new industry to the area.
