Environmental Evaluation of Polyurethane Foam Core Sandwich Panel Construction
An environmental evaluation of a sandwich panel bearing wall system for use in one of the Operation Breakthrough housing systems is described. Two samples of polyurethane foam core sandwich construction and four full size wall panels were evaluated. The samples of the sandwich construction were used to evaluate the effect of extreme temperature and moisture on this type of sandwich construction. The full size panels were used to determine the behavior in service considering the effects of adverse environmental conditions on ultimate strength and mode of failure.
