Groundwater in Rock: Geohydrological Investigation Methods for Installations in Rock
The work has comprised studies of the available literature and a review of those theoretical models for the calculation of flows in fractured aquifers which have been tested in some projects. The results show that test pumping data from crystalline rocks can be evaluated on the basis of the information available in the literature. Processing of field data from projects which have been carried out demonstrate that the test pumping technique can be used in different types of geological environments, and that the differences between these are reflected in the groundwater models constructed on the basis of the pumping tests. Measuring techniques in conjunction with the injection of water should also be further improved. This is particularly important for investigation of dry rock, and for the investigation of individual small fissures. Logging of single boreholes is a technique which has been developed for porous media and which, to some extent, is at present directly applicable to crystalline rock.
