INVERSET Bridge Deck Evaluation
This research project evaluates the performance, cost-effectiveness, and design parameters of the 'Inverset' pre-stressed, composite, concrete/steel bridge system. Fort Miller Co., Schuylerville, NY holds the license to manufacture and distribute the 'Inverset' systems, which was developed by Grossman and Keith Engineering Co., Norman, OK. The concrete deck of each unit is precast upside-down with the concrete forms suspended form the steel beams of the strucutre. This precasting procedure allows the theoretically denser concrete, normally at the bottom of a concrete pour, to become the surface of the bridge deck. The controlled, precast plant system allows for more consistent higher strength, better quality control during the manufacturing process, and potentially better performance.
