This training course provides an introduction to the concept of pavement preventive maintenance, including a description of currently available tools and technology that make the implementation of a pavement preventive maintenance program feasible. Targeting an audience of upper management and policy makers in highway agencies, the course focuses on the information needed to develop or improve a preventive maintenance program and illustrates the steps that five states have gone through in the development of their own preventive maintenance techniques themselves, although an extensive listing of pertinent references is provided for each technique.
