Annual Housing Survey: 1977. Housing Characteristics for Selected Metropolitan Areas: Wichita, Kans. Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area
This report presents statistics on housing and household characteristics in the Wichita, Kans., Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA). These statistics were derived from the 1977 - 78 Annual Housing Survey conducted in 20 selected SMSA's. The source of 1970 data shown in the report is tabulations from the 1970 Census of Population and Housing, and 1974 data were derived from the 1974 Annual Housing Survey. The report provides statistics on general housing characteristics for 1977, 1975, and 1970 and on indicators of housing and neighborhood quality for owner - occupied and renter - occupied housing units, on financial characteristics, on recent mover households, and on financial characteristics cross - classified by indicators of housing and neighborhood quality for 1977. Additionally, housing characteristics are given for black and Spanish heads of households. Statistics also illustrate the changes that have occurred in the housing stock of this SMSA from 1974 to 1977. For example, a net gain of 11,000 housing units has been recorded since 1974, with about 8 percent of the total housing stock constructed since the 1974 survey. Appendices describe the geographic area classifications and provide definitions and explanations of the subjects covered in the report, as well as information on sample design, estimation, and accuracy of the data.
