Building Exterior and Interior Maintenance and Maintenance of Equipment and Lighting. Participant's Workbook
The workbook on apartment building maintenance, exterior and interior, and on maintenance of equipment and lighting was designed to upgrade management skills in HUD-related housing. Many of the principles presented should also be viewed by students and instructors as applicable to multifamily housing management practices in the private sector. Housing managers should be aware of the essential elements of interior maintenance (upkeep of ceilings, walls, floors, carpets, drapes, and stairs) and exterior maintenance (upkeep of the roof, gutters and downspouts, windows, the exterior finish, and parking lots). This workbook familiarizes managers with these elements, as well as with ways they can maintain electrical and mechanical equipment. It also addresses elements of lighting management and maintenance. Elevator and escalator maintenance and electric heating maintenance are also discussed. Maintenance of lighting in offices, storage and janitorial areas, residences, and outside areas are described. A posttest and a skill test are included.
