Pavement Texture Measurement by the Sand Patch and Outflow Meter Methods
Two methods measuring pavement surface texture were examined in the laboratory under carefully controlled conditions. Several variables which might influence the accuracy of the two methods were investigated. Comparison of the results showed that the outflow meter gives more reliable results than the sand patch method does. The outflow meter was therefore used to determine the texture of approximately 100 cores from experimental pavements which serve in a research program on pavement polishing. (Author)
