Underground Research Laboratory Shaft Excavation Drawdown Experiment: Estimate of Hydraulic Parameter Values for Moderately Fractured Rock
The declines and fluctuations in piezometric levels in surface boreholes around the shaft of the Underground Research Laboratory (URL) as well as the occurrence and fluctuations in groundwater seepages into the shaft have been monitored during and subequent to shaft excavation. The data from 1984 and 1985 were analyzed to determine the hydraulic characteristics of the depressurized region within the upper 130 m of moderately fractured rock surrounding the URL and provide an estimate of the hydraulic parameter values (transmissivity and specific yield) of this region.
