A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Current Corrosion By-Products and Corrosion Control Research
US EPA research in the area of corrosion control consists of a combination of in-house research and extramural projects. The extramural projects have recently addressed the corrosion of solder in some Long Island water supplies, impacts of municipal ion-exchange softening on corrosion, developing an internal corrosivity protocol, and corrosion control in very soft, acidic, low-carbonate waters. In-house research focuses on corrosion inhibitor mechanisms, solubility of metals in drinking water, and natural corrosion deposits.
