National Dam Inspection Program. Lake Florence Dam (NDI I.D. Number PA-01092, PennDER I.D. Number 64-207), Delaware River Basin, Red Shale Brook, Wayne County, Pennsylvania. Phase I Inspection Report
Based on a visual inspection, operational history, and hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, the dam is considered to be in fair condition. The size classification of the facility is small and the hazard classification is considered to be significant. In accordance with the recommended guidelines, the Spillway Design Flood (SDF) for the facility ranges between the 100-year frequency flood and the 1/2 PMF (Probable Maximum Flood). Since the facility is classified near the lower bounds of the small category, the SDF is considered to be the 100-year frequency flood. Results of the hydrologic and hydraulic analysis indicate the facility is not capable of passing the inflow resulting from a 100-year frequency flood without overtopping the embankment. Consequently, the spillway system at Lake Florence Dam is considered to be inadequate.
