A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
This report describes simple analytical procedures which may be used to estimate the performance of mixed foundations, consisting of a pile group capped by a raft bearing directly on the ground surface. The procedures are based on assessing average interaction factors between the raft and the pile group and take no account of the detailed load distribution under the raft or the precise pattern of loads carried by the piles. As such, no attempt is made to assess differential settlements or bending moments in the raft.
