Interstate Route 79, Projects I-79-1(21)1, I-79-1(19)0 Kanawha County, West Virginia
The proposed project will connect sections of Interstate highway 77 and 79, it is from six to seven miles long and is located entirely within Kanawha County, West Virginia. Once constructed, Interstate 79 will begin in Charleston, at its interchange with Interstate 77, and extend in a general northeasterly direction toward Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and points north. The majority of its passage through the state is presently under construction. Environmental impacts include: Regeneration of economic growth in the area; increased transportation efficiency and safety through Charleston-Kanawha County area; displacement and relocation of varying numbers of families and businesses, depending on the alternative selected; temporary unavoidable increases in erosion and siltation due to construction activities.
