Pitting Corrosion of Stainless Steels: The Role of Inclusions and the Effect of Surface Deformation
The thesis is a result of studies on pitting corrosion of stainless steels and the effect of surface deformation by micropeening on this type of corrosion. Micropeening is a technique for the cold working of a metallic surface by pelting it with small glass beads. It proved also necessary to investigate the role of inclusions in this process, in order to obtain sensible experimental results on the pitting corrosion behavior. In this way the influence of micropeening could be studied in more detail.
