Housing Cost Reduction and the Housing Investment Calculator
This report reviews the potential for change in housing construction cost factors. These factors include new methods and materials technology, the nature of the building industry, and code restrictions. Significant decreases in construction cost could result in greater opportunities for the development of housing for low-and moderate-income families. Further evaluation of the utility of the housing investment calculator is also included in the form of a test of a planned housing development project in the Baltimore Gay Street Renewal Project.
