A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A new paving material was introduced which provides outstanding performance from thin pavement sections. The material is called fibrous concrete and is composed of conventional portland cement concrete materials with steel fibers randomly dispersed throughout the concrete mass. The material exhibits highly desirable behavioral properties for pavement applications. High first crack strength, ability to carry load after cracking, ability to arrest cracks and high spall resistance and ductility are some of the advantages offered by fibrous concrete over conventional concrete.
