Mobility in the Housing Allowance Demand Experiment
The report, one of a series of technical reports on the results of programs tested in the Housing Allowance Demand Experiment, analyzes the residential mobility of households enrolled in the experiment. The focus of the demand experiment, conducted in Allegheny County, PA. (Pittsburgh), and in Maricopa County, AZ. (Phoenix), is on how low-income renter households use allowances. Four stages of the mobility process are considered: (1) becoming dissatisfied with current housing or neighborhood, (2) planning to move, (3) searching for new housing, and (4) actually moving.
