The Niagara remedial control dam at the head of the Cascades was constructed to maintain the river flow and pool levels existing before the increased diversions of Niagara River flow for power development were effected. The International Niagara Board of Control (INBOC) decided that tests should be conducted in the Niagara Falls model to determine the adequacy of the dam as built to maintain desired water-surface elevations in the Chippawa-Grass Island pool under existing conditions and with the power intake originally proposed for installation at Conners Island, and tested in the first series of model tests. Eight groups of tests were conducted. Results are discussed.
