Durability of Tendons in Prestressed Concrete: Recommendations on Design, Construction, Inspection and Remedial Measures
Practical recommendations are given to improve the durability of prestressed concrete structures, principally with regard to steel tendons and the prevention of corrosion. It is stated that the design and materials used should be appropriate for the type of structure and its location. In order to prevent corrosion, steel tendons must be protected in storage and during transit. The importance of quality control on site during construction is mentioned. The planning of and procedures for in-service inspections are described.
