A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
This work is generally concerned with the question 'How can precedent knowledge be used in architectural design computation.' Specifically, the work investigates how plans of architectural precedents could be analyzed so that some characteristics of their spatial organization can be represented and used for generating new designs. In architectural design practice, generating new forms on the basis of precedents is a common approach. Yet, it has not received enough attention in design computation research. The objective of this work is to develop a framework for the use of architectural precedent knowledge that combines both architectural and computational perspectives.
