A Semiempirical Formula for Differential Dose Albedo for Neutrons on Concrete
A semiempirical formula is developed which yields values for the differential dose albedo of neutrons on concrete. Neutrons of incident energies 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 5 and 14 Mev are considered. Results show that a one-parameter formula gives satisfactory agreement with Monte Carlo calculations. A simple analytic form also gives satisfactory results except in low energy regions. The principal assumption involved in the theoretical analysis is that the actual reflection process can be approximated by a simplified neutron scattering model; namely that the scattering of neutrons in concrete is isotropic in the laboratory system.
