This Historic Structure Report is a portion of a package dealing with the rehabilitation of the lands and facilities at Gateway National Recreation Area. The purpose of this study is to provide a thorough historic study of the Jacob Riis Park Historic District to insure that the stabilization/preservation treatment of the structures and sites is historically accurate. The following structures are included: Bathing Pavilion, Central Mall Buildings, Maintenance Shops and Garage, Refreshment Stands, Boiler Room, Golf Course Concession Stand, Electrical Hut, Landscape, and Clock. The Historical Data Section includes documentary and illustrative data on the background history of the area's development and the architectural evolution and uses of the designated structures and sites from the construction period to the present.
