Determination of Poisson's Ratio for Various Glass Systems
Glasses were prepared containing soda and silica alone and with additions of CaO, BaO, ZnO and B2O3. The effect of Al2O3 additives to these glasses was also studied as well as additions of ZrO2. This was in an attempt to learn what each of these oxides does to the elastic properties as a guide in choosing suitable glass compositions for particular applications.
