The study contains the development of the economic opportunities growing out of the recreation and tourist resources of Southeastern Massachusetts. It has a broad base of support in the study area. The region itself represents a grouping of convenience rather than an economic or political unit. Some of the 30 towns and cities are highly urbanized and industry-oriented. Some are rural, some agricultural, some suburban. Population density ranges from 50 to over 5000 per square mile. And of course some towns have great attractiveness for tourists, while others have little potential for this industry. Southeastern Massachusetts appears to have a great deal of intrinsic tourist and recreation value. (Author)
