Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) Report for New Jersey: Roofer Dies After 25 Foot Fall From a House Roof, FACE-91-NJ-008
On May 1, 1991, a 42 year-old roofer died after falling 25 feet from a house roof. The incident occurred while the victim was preparing to nail a course of shingles on the edge of the roof. NJDOH FACE investigators concluded that, to prevent similar occurrences in the future, the following guidelines should be implemented: (1) A job hazard analysis should be performed by roofing employers and workers before beginning any job. (2) Use appropriate fall protection on all work at heights.
