Crack Arrest Properties of 9% Nickel Steel and Relation between Crack-Initiation and Crack-Arrest Tests
Brittle fracture initiation and arrest properties of various 9% nickel steel plates and their weld joints were studied by means of various fracture toughness test methods as the crack tip opening displacement, compact crack arrest, ESSO, short crack arrest and Wells wide plate tests. The results were analized by static and dynamic fracture mechanics and correlations between tests were established.
