National Program for Inspection of Non-Federal Dams. Williamstown Reservoir Dam (MA 00844), Hudson River Basin, Williamstown, Massachusetts. Phase 1 Inspection Report
Williamstown Reservoir Dam is an earth embankment dam approximately 1340 feet long and 31 feet high. The dam forms a water supply impoundment. The dam was constructed in two phases. The dam forming the West Reservoir was built during the mid-1880's. The dam forming the East Reservoir was built in 1898. The total normal impoundment is 29 acre-feet. The visual inspection did not disclose any findings that indicated an immediate unsafe condition; however, a number of deficiencies were observed which, if not remedied, could develop into hazardous conditions. The general condition of the structure is judged tdo be fair. Effects of reservoir storage would reduce the test flood inflow of approximately 80 cfs which would overtop the dam by about 0,1 foot. Spillway capacity at the top of dam is 16 cfs which is 20% of the routed test flood outflow.
