York Nebraska Ground Water Recharge Demonstration Project
The York Ground Water Recharge Demonstration Project was undertaken as part of the High Plains States Ground Water Demonstration Program (Program), coordinated by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR). In 1984, the High Plains States Ground Water Demonstration Act (Public Law 98-434), authorized the USBR to administer cooperative projects with local sponsors from western states to evaluate the role and effectiveness of ground water recharge technology in water resources management. PL 98-434 directed the USBR to coordinate projects undertaken by the Program in cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey (UDSGS) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
