In December 2010, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) contractors collected groundwater samples from 20 monitoring wells at the Highway 71/72 Refinery site, located in Bossier Parish, Louisiana. The Highway 71/72 Refinery site is currently undergoing remedial action, with bi-annual groundwater monitoring. In cooperation with EPA, Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals/Office of Public Health/Section of Environmental Epidemiology and Toxicology evaluated the most recent groundwater data available for the Highway 71/72 site to determine whether the Highway 71/72 site poses potential harm to public health through contact with contaminated groundwater.
