Procedure PSU-IV for Estimating Design Flood Peaks on Ungaged Pennsylvania Watersheds
When designing a structure (such as a bridge or culvert) within the flood plain of a river or stream, it is necessary to estimate the peak flood flow so that the structure can be built to accommodate that flow. This study's principal concern was to update and revise flood estimating method PSU III (developed in 1970 for ungaged watersheds essentially unaffected by urban development or flood regulation by ponds or reservoirs) to account for urbanization and storage-regulation effects. A second objective was to extend the flood series from 1968 to 1977.
