The interior design of a 230-bed addition to the Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, is described. Brightly colored accent walls and upholstery fabrics, bold graphic designs, and contemporary furniture, all against a background of neutral floor coverings and walls, characterize the new addition. Wall art doubles as directional information and aesthetic decoration. Inpatient floors are given identity through large numerals against the main accent color selected for each level. Rooms are located around a core which ties together nurses stations, offices, and work-storage areas. Photographs of the corridors, patients' rooms, and public areas, several of which illustrate the extensive use of graphics, are included.
