Freeze-Thaw Durability of High-Strength Concrete
The report describes the freeze-thaw durability research conducted as part of the University of Minnesota investigation on the application of high performance concrete (HPC) to prestressed concrete bridge girders. The overall high performance concrete research program comprised five companion investigations. Two of the investigations focussed on the materials aspects of HPC: mechanical properties and freeze-thaw durability. The remaining three investigations focussed on tests of two long-span HPC prestressed bridge girders: instrumentation and fabrication; long term behavior and flexural strength; and shear strength.
