Quiet Pavement Pilot Program. Progress Report Number 2
This report summarizes activities completed to date on the Quiet Pavement Pilot Program (QPPP), a research program partnering the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). ADOT initiated the QPPP in April of 2003 after approval by FHWA. The QPPP consists of two components: construction and research. The construction component consists of overlaying approximately 115 miles of existing urban freeways with asphalt rubber friction course (ARFC) in five separate phases. The research component evaluates the potential for using ARFC as a noise mitigation measure.
