In 1971, the United States Congress authorized the creation of Lincoln Home National Historic Site at Springfield, Illinois. The site included the Lincoln Home and the four-block area surrounding the Home. National Park Service Historian Edwin C. Bearss completed the Historic Resource Study and Historic Structure Report for Blocks 6 and 11 of Elijah Iles' Addition to the city of Springfield, Illinois, in 1977. The document concentrates on Blocks 7 and 10 of Elijah Iles' Addition and complements the Bearss study.
