Temperature Effects on Continuous Reinforced Concrete Bridge
The study was intended to compare the measured effects with the results computed from theoretical considerations for the observed temperature variations. Observations of temperatures, strains and reaction changes were made for 3 days in 1969. From the surface temperatures, the transient temperature distributions at various times were determined by the finite difference technique. The moments and reaction changes due to the temperature differentials were calculated by a matrix formulation of the slope deflection method. The analyses were carried out by a computer program especially written for the study. A parameter study was performed to determine the influence of different material properties on the calculated results. (Author)
