Calibrating Resistance Factors for Load and Resistance Factor Design for Statnamic Load Testing
Since 1994 Statnamic load testing has been used by the FDOT to estimate drilled shaft static capacities. However, until recently insufficient Statnamic and conventional static load testing data existed together to estimate load and resistance factor design (LRFD) resistance factors for piles and shafts in variable soil types. Using a database of thirty-seven drilled shafts and piles from around the world (contribution from AFT Inc., and Berminghammer Co.), the resistance factors were estimated based on the FOSOM (First Order Second Moment, FHWA approach).
