Hatteras Breach, North Carolina
This Coastal and Hydraulics Engineering Technical Note (CHETN) is intended to document the rapid response of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to engineer and construct a breach closure and the lessons learned. The note also documents the short-term morphologic evolution and hydrodynamic characteristics of the breach based on an analysis of collected data. Researchers are utilizing this important data set in the development of numerical models of coastal breaching and to further the Corps' understanding of the breaching process.
