A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Three fish ladders were constructed over dams in New Hampshire from December 1967 through November 1972 to improve the runs and provide improved commercial fishery. Segments AFC 1-1 and AFC 1-2 of the project were concerned with constructing fish ladders over two dams on the Exeter River, each costing respectively $30,000 and $26,864.89. Alewives, blueback herring, and shad are expected to utilize this watershed. During the third segment a ladder costing $51,012.81 was constructed over the Lamprey River in Newmarket. This is a prime stocking area for coho salmon and it is expected that this watershed will produce a substantial American salmon and shad run.
