Maintenance Dredging, Andrews River, Massachusetts
The report describes the proposed maintenance dredging of the channel and anchorage basin of Andrews River (Saquatucket Harbor), Massachusetts, in fiscal year 1973. Approximately 35,000 cubic yards of shoal material will be removed which will take 4 to 8 weeks to complete. Such action would allow for safer passage and mooring of recreational and commercial craft in Saquatucket Harbor. Adversely, such action would cause short-term effects on the marine fauna associated with dredging and spoiling operations; such as turbidity effects, increase in BOD and COD in the water column, smothering of some benthic organisms.
