Discussion of Paper 'Fire and the Curtain Wall' by H. L. Malhotra
The paper, 'Fire and the Curtain Wall' by H. L. Malhotra to be presented in a symposium sponsored by Counseil International du Batiment pour Reserche et Documentation on the curtain wall has been discussed in the light of information currently available in the USA. It is suggested that the experiments quoted by Malhotra may have failed to properly simulate fire behavior in buildings of conventional shape. A word of caution is offered against the proposal that current code requirements with respect to height of spandrel walls or horizontal floor projections are unduely restrictive. (Author)
