Caldwell Interstate, Caldwell Northwest Connector, Caldwell West, Idaho
The proposed action consists of three interconnected and interrelated projects designated as I-80N-1(41)27 - Caldwell Interstate, SU-3755(1) - Caldwell Northwest Connector and S3712(5) - Caldwell West. Construction of Interstate Highway 80N/Northwest Connector would result in the loss of some upland gamebird habitat, mainly associated with the Northwest Connector corridor. The exact amount of habitat disruption would be dependent on the selection of alternatives. The removal of habitat associated with this corridor would not affect available hunting recreation, since it is all within Caldwell City limits. 1997 traffic associated noise from Interstate Highway 80N would exceed Laub 10 design noise level standards for several residential structures and Caldwell Jaycee Park adjacent to the facility. Noise attenuation considerations to reduce the noise impact are described. The displacement of some families and businesses would be required for both the Interstate section and the Northwest Connector.
