Evaluation of Epoflex Pavement Markings
The report documents installation and performance of epoxy thermoplastic pavement marking material -- also known as 'epoflex' or 'EPT' -- in New York. Two large contracts, totaling 1,275,000 lin ft, of white and yellow markings were placed on asphalt and concrete pavements. Both installations proceeded smoothly, and line quality and initial delineation by day and by night were excellent. Unfortunately, long-term performance of the markings did not match initial expectations or the excellent installation results. Overall durability of the epoflex striping was poor.
