Storage of Natural Gas at High Pressure in Lined Rock Caverns - Rock Mechanical Analysis
This report summarizes the questions of rock mechanics which are connected with storing gas at high pressure in lined rock caverns. The following questions have been investigated: * necessary rock overburden, * deformation of the rock mass at high pressure, * the distance between two storage cylinders, * the drainage tunnels effect on the storage cylinder, * what fracture widths are expected when the storage cylinder is pressurized. The problems have been analysed with the aid of numerical computer programmes, FLAC and JOBFEM, and analytical calculations. (ERA citation 14:019293)
